Te Pā Harakeke transforms the former Modellers Pond into a nationally recognised example of how stormwater infrastructure, ecological restoration, play, and community space can be beautifully integrated. The project required exceptional adaptability, with tidal flows, poor ground conditions, and fast-tracked civil works all influencing the construction process.
Kūmānu worked closely alongside Taylors Contracting during the early reshaping phase to ensure foundations were placed accurately and efficiently. When severe weather and challenging site conditions forced early demobilisation of the civil contractor, our Landscape Construction team stepped in to complete all final contouring and shaping, carefully balancing tidal dynamics, stormwater storage requirements, and play-space functionality.
