Washbourn Gardens is one of Richmond’s most cherished public spaces - a destination for families, visitors, and community gatherings. Since 2020, Kūmānu has proudly delivered the full horticultural care and maintenance of the gardens as part of Tasman District Council’s Reserves Maintenance Contract, enhancing both the everyday experience and long-term health of this iconic park.
The gardens offer a rich variety of experiences: expansive lawns, colourful perennial displays, specimen trees, the historic Richmond Gaol, a performance stage, and a gently flowing watercourse that doubles as stormwater detention. Maintaining this diversity requires deep horticultural knowledge, detailed planning, and a commitment to excellence.
