Kūmānu is proud to have made a real difference in improving fish passage connectivity across the Tasman District. As part of a long-term project delivered on behalf of Tasman District Council (TDC), our team has surveyed over 6,500 instream structures, such as culverts and weirs, and remediated more than 1,500 to restore natural fish movement. Sustainability is at the heart of our work, with local businesses contributing materials such as used mussel rope and recycled rubber aprons to support our remediation efforts. This collaborative approach strengthens community partnerships, reduces waste, and enhances the resilience of Aotearoa’s freshwater ecosystems.
